How CO-OP Works

HEP offers a teaching co-op for homeschoolers who meet together once a week for classes at Hays Hills Baptist Church.  The church is located between Manchaca and Buda at 1401 North FM 1626.  Classes are held on Friday mornings during the school year for 10 weeks each semester (spring and fall).  All homeschooling families from south Austin and surrounding communities are invited to join the HEP co-op (see Co-op Membership and Registration).

Each semester, co-op students have the opportunity to choose 3 different classes to take.  The classes are grouped by age and are taught by parents.  A parent from each enrolled family is required to teach a class during one period, assist in a class for another period, and have a third period off.  Each family must submit a membership enrollment application along with information on a minimum of two possible courses to teach, though only one of the choices will be assigned.  The HEP Board will assign classes for teachers and assistants rather than accepting individual requests for class placement.  Please see Co-op Policies and Procedures for details on specific requirements.

Co-op Schedule

Every Friday co-op begins with an Opening Assembly that all co-op members are required to attend.  Board members give pertinent announcements, and individual families lead in Scripture reading, the Pledge of Allegiance, and prayer.

Co-op Costs

Costs are kept as low as possible in an effort to make this program affordable to all families.  All fees are used to pay for the expenses of operating the co-op (class supplies, reimbursements to teachers, child care, copying expenses, special events, etc.).  The specific costs to join the co-op are listed under Co-op Fees.

All registration requirements must be met by the indicated deadlines (see Calendar/Deadlines).
